Harry Lee was born December 28, 1935 in Dallas, Texas. He attended North Dallas High School and later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where he received a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. After his graduation, he went to work for the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy in Washington D.C. In the 1960s he moved to El Paso, Texas where he met his wife Vicki. In 1979, he was appointed to federal judiciary by President Jimmy Carter. He served as a federal judge in Texas, including chief judge, until his retirement in 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vicki, two daughters, Melinda Hudspeth of Austin, Mary Peters and husband Lance of Lubbock and a son, William Hudspeth, of El Paso.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Dr., Austin, Texas 78731.
