Harry T. Swimme, Jr. of Pflugerville went very peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was bright, alert and happy after a long serious illness when he, rather quickly and surprisingly, just slipped away into his eternal rest.
Harry was born in San Antonio on May 13, 1927 to Mary Lea Swimme and Harry T. Swimme, Sr.
He leaves behind his 2nd wife of 15 years Katheryn Ann Grant and his daughter Sheila Bowien of Pflugerville and his sister Anna Lea Faulk of Austin and numerous nieces and nephews, 2 step granddaughters and 1 step grandson, plus 3 step great-grandsons and 2 step great-granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his 1st wife of 48 years, Marvelene Sunday and by his daughter Kyna Simmons as well as a very beloved grandson Christopher McCrady. Additionally, his parents, sister and her husband Grace and Lt. Col. Robert Nourie USAF (RET), brother-in-law Col. John D. Faulk USAF (RET)
Harry had a very kind, quiet, peaceable spirit and a detailed, yet captivating and entertaining, talent for telling of his many adventures as part of a Combat Crew aboard an aircraft carrier in World War II Pacific, the Texas Highway Patrol and assignments with the Texas Rangers, Austin Police Department and a Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor in the Austin area.
He had been very active in his church, youth activities and donated time, labor and material for community projects such as the major renovations and improvements of the Zilker Outdoor Theater.
