Passed away November 25, 2021, peacefully and surrounded with love at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House. Heather is survived by her parents, John and Lynn Newby, her younger brother Matthew Newby, and her grandmother Barbara Rettinger, all of Austin, Texas.
Heather graduated from La Porte High School in 1989 and went on to earn her degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1994. Upon graduation from college Heather moved to Austin, Texas, where she earned her Para Legal Degree. She worked for several Austin law firms but for the past 18 years she had the privilege of working with Wallace Smith at Smith/Robertson LLP. She enjoyed the many aspects of her legal career and found it very fulfilling. Heather’s biggest joy and love in her life were her own dogs and fostering Classic doggies who were often gravely ill and had special needs.
She found homes for dozens of these dogs and several times adopted them for her own.
Heather always brought us love, joy, laughter, and intelligence.
Heaven is gaining a beautiful angel, full of sunshine.
A celebration of Heather's life will be planned at a later date.
