Hollis Lenoir Jefferies Jr. was a Christian, loving husband, dedicated father, incredible Papa, AOC Elder, coach, restaurant owner, Rollingwood councilman and Mayor, financial advisor and branch manager, mentor, “Ranch Supervisor," softball player, competitor, hunter, fisherman, sports enthusiast, University of Texas graduate and fan, and a loyal friend to many!
Hollis was born on December 8, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born to Connie Fuller Jefferies and Hollis Lenoir Jefferies and was the oldest of four children. He graduated from WB Ray High School in 1969 and entered the University of Texas that fall. Hollis worked his way through college and graduated in 1973. He began his career with a small brokerage firm that was eventually bought by A.G. Edwards and ended his career with Wells Fargo Advisors. In the early 1970's, he was recruited by an FEFC softball player to join their team. This was the beginning of an amazing adventure which resulted in life long friendships, meeting his future wife, and over 50 years with FEFC (Austin Oaks Church).
Starting at an early age, Hollis had an interest in the stock market. His dream was to be a stock broker and he lived his dream for 53 years. He had a successful career as a financial advisor and branch manager. He developed cherished friendships, was awarded amazing trips and loved his job until the end.
In 2008, he was given a second chance at life through the generous gift of organ donation. This gift gave Hollis an additional 17 years of life and he formed a special friendship with his donor's family.
Hollis' life was always busy and there was “never a dull moment!" The highlight of his life was his grandchildren. Whatever activity they had, he loved watching them and was one of their biggest cheerleaders and supporter.
His many interests included coaching Little League, serving as Rollingwood Councilman for 20 years, Mayor for 4 years, and as a Church Elder, coordinating and serving church dinners, mentoring young married couples, and secretly considering himself an honorary member of the MAC (Moms and Community) ministry.
Hollis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carla Lind Jefferies, his children Hollis III (Jeff) and wife Katy, Amanda and husband Scott Egbert, grandchildren Alice and Hollis Jefferies IV, Bradley, Amie Kate and Carly Egbert, siblings Elizabeth Gaye (Stan) Siler, Joy Jefferies and Bruce (Paula) Jefferies, his aunt Mrs. Capitola Meyerdirk and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
