Irene Cowart was a woman who I considered to be one of strongest women I ever knew.  Irene gave so much to me as I was growing up.  She made light where there was dark, happiness where there was sadness.  As an adult, I would visit her when we came to Austin.  Oh how she will be missed.

With Irene's passing all the people of that generation, the Greatest Generation, who were most important in my life are gone. She was one of a kind, the epitome of the strong Texas woman.

Though I will miss her very much, it's comforting to know she'll be celebrating Jesus' birthday with him, and it is right where she would want to be.  Thank you to my wonderful Aunt Kathy who gave everything she had to care for her mother these last few months, and to the hospice people for all their help to her.  Sweet dreams my strong determined Grandmother, If I could be half the woman you were, I will have done well.  Delores Nicar
