Ismael Ponce

Ismael Ponce, age 67, passed away on October 17th, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Ismael was born on December 18th, 1949 in Harlingen, TX to parents Jose Garcia and Teodora Ortiz. In 1985, he moved to Austin, TX and accepted a position as a purchaser at Texas National Guard, where he worked for more than 30 years.

Ismael was a great man and a loving father. He was married and he had 2 children and he also had a son with Carole Ward.

Ismael was a social, active man who was deeply involved in Veteran Affairs for the majority of his life. He enjoyed going to church, grilling outside and going to the movies. His family and friends will always remember him as a wonderful, caring and funny person.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Garcia, of Illinois; his brother, Steve Ponce, of Wichita, Kansas.

Ismael is survived by his mother, Teodora Ponce, of Illinois; his children, Marty, Jacob, and Alicia, of Texas; and his siblings, Richie, Ed, Tina, Norma, Kiki, Maria Roy and Andrew of Illinois.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. Rosary will recite at 7:00 PM.

Additional visitation will be held in Peoria, IL on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 PM with a funeral service scheduled for Ismael Ponce will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017, all at Wilton Mortuary, 2102 North Knoxville, Peoria, IL 61603.
