Jackie Roy Brunson

Jackie was born to Mary Katherine and Roy C. Brunson on October 4, 1945. Jackie met the love of his life, Kathy Darlene Stafford, in their hometown of San Angelo, Texas. He was a senior and she was a freshman at Lakeview High School. They were head over heels in love, and they married four years later on December 9, 1967. They went on to celebrate fifty-four years of marriage. Together they had six children. Jackie is survived by wife Kathy of Austin, Texas, son Jeffery and wife Shana Atassi of Austin, Texas, son Phillip and wife Julie of Houston, Texas, son Clint and wife Katy of Midland, Texas, son Colby of Midland, Texas, and daughter Kourtney Dyson and husband Derek of Tomball, Texas. Daughter Kimberly Brunson preceded him in death. He was a proud Grandpa to six grandchildren: Owen, Joshua, Audrey, Parker, Ascher, and Barrett. Jackie was a wonderful and dedicated husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend.

Jackie was a devoted employee of Texas Instruments for over forty years. During his tenure with TI, he worked in Dallas in the late 1970s, Midland during the oil boom of the early 1980s, Sherman after the millennium, and eventually concluded his career back in Dallas. During business trips with TI to Europe and Asia, he particularly enjoyed the unique culinary experiences of each country. Jackie’s colleagues fondly referred to him as the Doctor of TI. He earned this nickname due to his extensive knowledge and experience which allowed him to diagnose and solve complex problems.

Jackie adored spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were truly his pride and joy. He had a green thumb and the best-looking yard in the neighborhood. When he was cooking, no one complained, and everyone came back for seconds. Taking everyone out on the boat was the icing on the cake.

A celebration of life is scheduled for May 21, 2022, in Austin, Texas. Memorials to honor Jackie Brunson may be made to “alivingtribute.org”, which will plant a tree in his name, or to a charity of your choice.
