Jaime was born on September 15, 1960 in El Paso, TX to Felicitas Staalenburg. He served in the United States Air Force from May 30, 1979 to November 30, 1990, and was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant, E6. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science in 1992 from Parks University and went on to be an entrepreneur. Over the next 23 years, he owned and operated businesses in the Denver and Austin areas. On July 28, 1981, he married the love of his life, Martha Lazcano, and raised a son, Jaime Jr., and a daughter, Yasmin.
Jaime had a passion for helping others. He had a remarkable work ethic, unimaginable intelligence, and was a genuine and compassionate leader. He was known for his words of wisdom, uncanny patience, joyous nature, and love of Christmas music. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan, enjoyed political debates, and loved spending time with family and friends over good wine and delicious food.
Jaime was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Staalenburg. He leaves behind Martha, his devoted wife of 39 years, his mother Felicitas, his brothers, Ruben and his wife Lupe, and Juan, his sister, Marianna and her husband Gilbert, son Jaime Jr, daughter Yasmin and her husband Sean, grandchildren Ava, Isla, Aria, Mara, and Grayson, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jaime was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, son, and brother who always put others before himself. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jaime’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
