Jim lived across the street from me for 12 years and we became very good friends and visited with each other almost every day. Soon after my wife and I moved into our house on Addie Lane in Georgetown, Jim came across the street and introduced himself. 
Seems like we became good friends almost immediately. I have a small patio shaded by a big oak tree in my front yard and this became our regular visiting venue most afternoons. We talked about things from our growing up days, current political events, how things had changed over the years and just about anything, 

Sometimes  we would go places together; shopping, to the gun range, "grave crawling" through cemeteries looking for my ancestor's graves and  go to church together.  When I would be working in my front yard, Jim would come over, asking if he could help. In all the years we knew each other, we rarely disagreed on things, and if we did, we didn't argue, but just changed the subject.  In the last couple of years before Jim went to the rest home, I got to where I could  barely walk and Jim would help me back into my house after our  visits even though he could hardly walk himself.    I sometimes look out my front window at the chair on my patio that Jim regularly sat in and realize how much i miss Jim.
