James “Jimmy” Jackson Moore Jr. passed away at 65 years of age unexpectedly after recent surgery on January 6, 2026. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was raised in Austin, Texas. Jimmy graduated from Austin Community College with a degree in Art.
Jimmy was a loving husband, stepfather and grandfather, dedicated son and beloved brother, uncle, cousin and Papa to many more. He is survived in death by Angela K. Graham Moore, stepson Karl Hill and fiancé Ashley Lopez, step-daughters Harley and Haley Jones, grandson Gary Hill, Father James “Jack” Moore Sr. and sisters Karen Hull (husband Chris), Susi Moore-Bennett and Melanie Carbary. And preceded into death by his loving mother Rosemary Ernst Moore.
Jimmy was a man full of passion. He was a talented artist whose bright and vibrant colors echoed his personality. He loved live music, bold conversations and was a passionate, proud Democrat. Jimmy loved to travel, to visit friends in California, Australia and most of all his Jamaican family. He loved to be outdoors, whether tending to the vast backyard gardens or playing golf with Papa Jack or tennis with friends. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to grandson Gary.
Jimmy lovingly dedicated much of the last 15 years of his life to caring for his mother Rosemary who passed in 2011 and his father Jack, and for this time and many more things, his family is very grateful.
He was his happiest when he was cruising South Congress in a classic car or his Saints truck with his wife Angela by his side.
A celebration of his life will be held February 1, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Cook Walden Funeral Home at N. Lamar Blvd. Flowers can be directed to the funeral home, or donations can be made in Jimmy’s name to the ASPCA.
