

His bravery during World War II earned him a Merchant Marine Emblem, Atlantic War Zone Bar, Mediterranean Middle East War Zone, and Victory Medal. He also received a letter appreciation for his service from the White House signed by Harry Truman on November 12, 1947. James served on board merchant ships that transported troops during World War II. He retired with honors as a Merchant Marines-Seaman November 20, 1944 thru July 27, 1945, Marine Corps-PFc September 3, 1946 thru September 2, 1949, and Air Force-Staff Sgt. October 31, 1950 thru July 28, 1953.James also worked for Department of Public as a Driver License Examiner-Patrolman. He was also a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
James is survived by his wife Lillie Laverne Pearson, son Rick Neal Pearson and wife Sherri Pearson; son Ronald Stewart Pearson and wife Dianne Elaine Pearson; grandson Stephen Michael Terrio-Pearson; James also leaves four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 27th of June 2016, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 28th of June 2016, in the Davis Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bastrop, Texas.
