

Jane Day was the wife of Lt. Col. Arthur W. Day, USAF (Ret) for 55 years and a mother of four. An avid traveler and adventurer, she explored over 35 countries during her lifetime. She was a restaurateur and co-owner of Eagle Nest Café in Austin, TX from 1977- 1983. Her love of books lead her to be a librarian at Old Quarry Branch for several years. She was involved in her community as President of the Austin Newcomers Club, a member of the League of Women Voters, a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
A graduate of Michigan State University, she taught elementary school in Kaiserslautern, Germany where she met her husband, Art. As an Air Force pilot's wife, she travelled wherever his job took him, establishing many new homes for her family. Jane was always ready for a game of cards or mah jong, a glass of wine, cruising the world, dancing, or being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Arthur W. Day, USAF, Ret. of Austin, TX and her son, Derrick W. Day, of Palos Verdes Estates, CA.
She is survived by her three children, Dan, of Austin; Holly Day Chapman (Don) of Leesburg, VA; Suzy of Telluride, CO; and four grandsons Dylan Day, Matthew Chapman, Christopher Chapman, Duncan Day and one granddaughter, Madison Day and daughter in law Dale Harbour-Day.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Sunday, January 22nd at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
