in Austin from complications of a stroke she suffered more than a decade earlier.
She was 63.
Janice was born April 13, 1951, in Arlington to the late Elbert and Nellie Houston.
She graduated from Kimball High School in 1969 and married high school sweetheart
James David McDaniel on Aug. 22, 1970. They were together 42 years before his
passing in December, 2013.
She worked as a secretary at Jersey Village Church of Christ for more than 20 years
and continued doing secretarial work in Austin until her stroke in 2002. She poured
all her energy into caring for her family, and she loved arts and crafts, sewing and
collecting bells and thimbles.
Janice is survived by two children, Jason McDaniel and Jamie McDaniel, two grandchildren,
Jaxon McDaniel and Mila McDaniel, and her brother, James Houston.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cook-Walden
Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin.
