Janos was born in Budapest, Hungary, to Janos and Eva Haide and was the eldest of three siblings. Janos made his family immensely proud by attending Pannonhalma Benedictine Secondary School and Eotvos Lorand University. At university, Janos pursued a degree in mathematics and computer science and fell in love with Judit Nemet. Judit and Janos were married in 1989 and moved to Austin, Texas, in 1990, where they built a life together.
From a young age, Janos possessed a curiosity for programming that grew into his life-long passion and career. When he wasn’t sitting in front of his computer screens, he lived a life of adventure, exploring the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, camping, travelling, off-roading and more.
Janos touched the hearts of his family, friends, and coworkers around the world with his intelligence, humor, generosity, and calm nature. He was a man of few words, but his kindness spoke volumes as he continuously provided for others without hesitation. He was a loving father, husband, son, brother, mentor, and so much more.
Janos is survived by his wife, Judit, his daughters, Szilvia and Viktoria, his mother, Eva, and his sisters, Hilde and Hanna, among other relatives. He lives on in our hearts, our memories, and the cuddles of his cat, Benny, who was a great source of comfort and happiness to Janos in the last two years.
A memorial service for Janos will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750.
