I just happened to find about his death the day of the funeral.  I slipped in and sat in the back.  I had known him since the mid eighties and he had helped through my divorce and then dealing with a very angry child with ADHD.  I worked near his office so I provided notary services when needed. 
I will never forget him and always have fond memories.  He helped me make it through a difficult life.

Dr.Fogelman,(Jay) was not only the Dr. to several of my children,but for over twenty years became a trusted and much loved friend. His office was his "man cave" and he welcomed all with a smile and great affection. I can't begin to tell you what a wonderfully giving human being he was. I just learned of Jay's death by accident as I was going to try to contact him. If someone reading this could tell me more about his passing, I would be grateful.  We were best friends in junior high and high school in Temple, but then my family moved away from Temple and our paths parted.  I caught up with Jay maybe 10 years ago in Austin and we had a fine reunion.  
As two boys who never seemed to fit into other groups in Temple, we were best pals.  I supposed now we would be called nerds.   I learned so much from Jay.  He was very smart always and very funny and always just on the verge of getting us into trouble or just past it.  We had some great times in high school. 



Time has pasted since you left this earth, but I still think about you on a regular basis. My current doctor is good, but he doesn't talk to me like you did. He doesn't take the time to listen to my struggles like you did. He doesn't know me on a personal level like you did. Even though I would often be waiting past my appointment time it didn't bother me because I knew you would take the same time with me if needed. You whole heartily cared about your patients. Nearly every visit for the five years I saw you you'd ask me if I had a boyfriend and my response was always no. In January of 2013 I finally got one and was so excited to tell you. However, I never got the chance. I remember when I heard the news of your passing. I was in a restaurant with my family and went into the restroom to cry. I never really processed your passing. It hurts to not have been able to say good bye. I know I was just a patient, but you shaped my life for the best and I will forever be grateful for knowing you. I've been thinking about you lately and just needed to have this conversation with you. I often come across struggles and know you'd have the right thing to say. I miss that. You will truly never be forgotten. 



Dearest Jay,
Beginning before Thanksgiving and continuing through today - Christmas Eve - these "holidays" have been agonizingly difficult.  I expected the Thanksgiving sadness, but am surprised that it's continued, although, really, I shouldn't be.  You were always such a huge part of our holidays, especially Thanksgiving - because of all the food, including "Jay's Beans".  Your absence is palpable.  I see your face so clearly and hear your "Hello, Little Suzie" so easily. I'm glad for this.  But the realization that you're gone still startles me.  It just hasn't sunk in.  I can't stand it.  My new friend Laura, whose brother died three years ago, has dreams about him.  I haven't yet.  I miss you more than any words can say.  I'm so sad and lonely without you.  I think my new kitty TJ saw you a few nights ago.  I hear you in the chimes in the kitchen.  I know you are at peace, and I hope and pray and wish that peace will someday come to me. I just went to find Dr. F to say hi and that I was thinking about him!  I worked for him for a short time and thought the world of him!  He was so understanding and kind!  I am so saddened to hear of his passing!  I know he will be taking care of people from afar!  My deepest sympathy to his family.  He always talked about his kids and how proud he was!!!  <3



I just learned of Dr. Fogelman's passing today.   He was a wonderful doctor and during the time that my son needed the most help, he was there.  Thank you Dr. Fogelman for being the best listener and encourager to both my son and I.  You will be truly missed!

I was only able to see Dr Fogelman for 8 months, but in that time he knew more about me than virtually anyone I have ever known. He was very easy to talk to and open up to and I actually looked forward to our time together. He was the best doctor Ive ever known and he will be missed by all. RIP Dr Fogelman. What a wonderful person I saw in Dr.Fogelman. I just learned of your passing today. I was in disbelief of this news when I spoke with Julia earlier today. Talk about someone who could make me laugh when I was feeling down...you were wonderful!! We had so much fun talking about different restaurants and which ones had the best food...lol. To your family...I lost my dad in 2007,he was my best friend,it was so hard losing him!!  My sincerest condolences!! Your Dad/husband/son was definitely one of a kind and will truly be missed!!



I have been going to see Dr. Fogelman for around 4 to 5 years now. When i found out he passed my heart hurt quite a bit because he was very easy to talk to and open up to and I will never forget him. I dont think i will ever find another psychiatrist I will admire as much as him. Rest in peace... Heaven got such an amazing angel. 



I met Dr. Fogelman about 25 years ago at my first job as a clinical Music Therapist and he was the most supportive physician in that hospital.  Back then, Music Therapy was still fairly new and Dr. Fogelman knew the power of music and it's healing components.  I looked forward to his energy, sense of humor and his SOUL.  He was bigger than life to me and I've ALWAYS thought fondly of him and his kind, giving and soulful ways.

He will always hold a warm, loving spot in my heart for the rest of my life.  I loved the time that I did spend with him.  I will miss you dearly.

I only had the pleasure of Dr. Fogelman's acquaintance for about 6 months as one of his patients. i've been to a few psychiatrists in my life, and Dr. Fogelman was the first I met who had a sense of humor and was really easy to talk to.

My prayers and love go out to Jay's sister, Susann, and to his wonderful sons, Zach and Josh.  Jay was very loved and treasured and will be missed beyond description be these people and their families, and also by many friends.
We are saddened beyond words.  I look forward to Susie telling me she is seeing signs from Jay telling her that he is OK and at peace.  Signs will come, no doubt about that.  And, Susie, Zach and Josh now have a very special guardian angel on their shoulders.

We lived across the street from the Fogelman family, and I have many fond and fun memories of the whold family, even Pepe.  I do remember that, in general, when I talked with Jay, I didn't know what he was talking about half the time.  He knew, but I didn't!!!!!  After we were grown, he always seemed to want to know how I was and how everybody was.  He was very caring and giving and had a huge heart for caring and compassion. We have lost a very special person.



Doctor Fogelman was a great man, and an even better friend. I have been able to trust him with anything since the very first time I stepped into his lava-lamp filled, cozy office.
Doctor Fogelman, thank you for always believing in me. I will from here on out always try to be a 10 on the Fogelman scale! Rest in peace. 






Words can not express how truly sad I am hearing about Dr. Fogelman's passing. You were a blessing and will be missed more than can be imagined. Rest in sweet peace. You changed people's lives for the better. I wish I could give you one more hug.

Dr. Fogelman will be dearly missed.  He was a real Godsend in the life of my son.  We love going to visit him .  My son never started an appointment with him'without first noting his argyle socks he was wearing.  He talked with a loving and  open heart to us.  He knew I cried for my son because they were tears of love.  The last appt. we had with him, I noticed a beautiful angel sitting on his shelf watching over him.   We will miss you so much.!  You must be dancing  in paradise !

Getting to know Jay was one of the best experiences of my professional life.  He was a sweet person who was often misunderstood.  He loved using his knowledge and skill to help his patients and he was dedicated to being a good physician.   I will miss him.

I haven't seen Jay since the early '70s, but I have fond memories of my friendship with him. I was a teenager, and was 8 years younger than he, but he didn't treat me like a kid. We road around town in his '67 mustang with the music turned up loud and would go to the Pastime Pool Hall in Temple and shoot pool together. Jay was larger than life. He loved his family and he loved his dog, Peanut.

My heart sank when I read of Jay's passing. It seems like just yesterday we were in high school with our whole lives ahead of us. Jay, John Bandas, & I, ran around together, playing bridge & just enjoying youth. Jay & John would come by my house, and then off we would go to have some fun. Playing bridge with Jay and John was hiarious. There was never a dull moment when we were together; impulse ruled.
The last time I saw Jay was at a party in Austin, while he was at UT, and I was visiting from Texas Tech. He'd gone to a UT dorm , and called until he found a date! That was Jay to me: fun, full of life, intettectually stimulating, spontaneous, and a joy to be around.   
I had been hoping that we would cross paths again, but it was not to be. I loved Jay's dad, Stan, and Jay definitely mirrored his larger than life personality. I have been privileged to have a shared a small part of both of their lifes. 



We are so sorry to hear of Jay's passing.  Seems like yesterday when we lived across the street from each other and watched Jay and Suzanne grow up.  We send our prayers and love to all Jay's family. With much love, Wanda and Jack



It seems like yesterday but yet was so long ago when we were roommates while at UT Austin.  Will always remember your fun ways of doing things as well as your giving heart.  There is a big empty chair now at the old poker table of our youth.
