Dr. Jay Fogelman is now resting peacefully at the 19th hole on heaven's most perfect golf course. Jay was born August 31, 1947 in Temple, Texas and died March 13, 2013 in Austin. After attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, he graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1974. He was a member of Mensa, and was board certified in child, adolescent, adult, and general psychiatry, which he practiced in Austin for nearly thirty years.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother Madelon Zidell Fogelman and his father Stanley Arnold Fogelman. Left behind to miss him terribly are his sons Zachary and wife Johanna, Joshua and wife Stephanie; grandchildren Zander and Emily; sister Suzann Madeley and husband Hank; niece Madelon; nephew Marc; step-mother Virginia; Aunt Louise; cousins Mitch, Nancie, and Jeff; dear friends Dr. Bill Munyon, Bob Russell, and Dr. Charles Alexander; sons' mother Michele; sons' sister Amber; loyal office manager Julia Mann; loving nanny Lucy; and many others.
Beneath Jay's bigger-than-life, boisterous, and sometimes intimidating persona was the heart of a big teddy bear who gave the best hugs ever. Jay's generous spirit will live on through his organ and tissue donation. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive.
Sleep tight, Baby Jay.
