

Jay Milton Reeves, 83, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, in Austin, TX. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, on April 2, 1941. He graduated from Lake Charles High School in Lake Charles, LA, and the University of Texas at Austin. His wife of 15 years, Valerie Sylvester Reeves, predeceased him in October 2023.
Jay spent a long career in shipping logistics. He worked at Dow Chemical for more than 30 years in Lake Jackson, TX, Hong Kong, and Houston, TX, and 15 years at Maersk in The Woodlands, TX.
Jay was a loyal and everlasting friend to all. He freely gave his time to his family, friends, and community. He was an avid portrait and nature photographer and a lifelong supporter of the Texas Longhorns. He loved recounting stories about his upbringing in Bay City, TX, and Hackberry and Lake Charles, LA.
Jay is survived by his two children, Julie Adams (Gregory) of Summit, NJ; and Matthew Reeves of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Lucy Adams and Amelia Adams; and his brother, Robert Reeves of Pflugerville, TX. Jay is also survived by his first wife, Judith Stradinger Reeves of Austin, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Violet Crown City Church in Austin, TX.
