

Jean was born in Saginaw, Michigan. She attended Central Michigan College and became an elementary school teacher. She met and later married Edwin L. Hansen, Jr in August of 1952. Together they lived and began a family in Battle Creek, Michigan. The family continued to grow, and they eventually settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. After retirement, Jean and Ed moved to Austin, Texas and became part of the St. Thomas More church community. In their retirement they enjoyed camping, square dancing, and participating in the Young at Heart group at St. Thomas More. Jean was a part of the lunch bunch and served on the bereavement committee in her church community. Jean was happiest when she was spending time with her family.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Edwin L. Hansen, Jr., her sister Virgina DeWolf, her brothers Harold and Orley Rogers, and her grandson Shane Hansen. Jean is survived by her four children Edwin L. Hansen and wife Cindy of Vail, Colorado; Marijean Hansen of Cedar Park, Texas; Margaret Whitehead and husband Scott of Cedar Park, Texas; and Helen Hansen of Leander, Texas; her six grandchildren Chrissie Piercey and husband Brent, Randy Stewart, Steven Stewart and wife Ashley, Jeremy Whitehead and wife Kim, Chase Hansen, and Callie Hansen; her four great-grandchildren Charlotte Piercey, Marley Rose Stewart, Walker Piercey, and Zeref Stewart. The family would like to thank Maricela Maldonado for all the love and care for our mother in her final years.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 10205 N FM 620, Austin, TX 78726 on Monday, Feb 3, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be followed by internment in the St. Thomas More columbarium. A luncheon will be held in the Brennan auditorium following the services.
