JERAMY JON-SHAYNE SUMMERS, 53, of Granite Shoals, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Jeramy was born November 2, 1971, in Norwich, Connecticut to Wayne Harvey Summers and Sandra Elaine Summers.
Jeramy leaves a large loving family to suffer his passing, but none more important to him than his precious sons, Jackson Lake Summers (16) and Luke Christopher Summers (14) of Cedar Park, Texas. Every moment he spent with his boys was a strategically planned event from arrival to departure. They hiked through the beautiful hill country that he loved so much; they spent hours in the golf cart exploring, riding jet skis, boating, or just hanging out on the lake fishing. Every moment was a treasured memory.
In addition, Jeramy leaves his heartbroken mother, Sandy Summers, his sister, Jamie Merillat and husband Jason; their children, Josh Merillat, wife Tiffany, and Jordan Merillat; Stepsister Andrea Berry and husband Doug; their children John & Brooke Berry. Stepbrother Shannon Knox. His aunt, Brenda Garret and husband Don, his uncles, Johnny Jenkins and wife Barbara; Jerry Jenkins and wife Diane; and David Summers; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Summers; along with many, many cousins and close friends who have become a part of our family over the years.
Jeramy was preceded in death by his dad, Wayne Summers, his stepdad, Glen Knox, his grandparents Bill & Ruby Summers and John & Joyce Jenkins. All of whom he shared many wonderful memories.
Jeramy graduated from Spring High School in the Class of 1990 and then went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1994. While in college, Jeramy spent his summers working as a camp counselor at the Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas, which is a residential summer camp for children with physical disabilities. In 1998, he obtained an Associates of Arts degree in Healthcare Administration from San Jacinto College. Jeramy spent his career in the field of Healthcare Administration working for Sava Senior Care and Brookdale Senior Living, where he served as Vice President of Regional Operations. Most recently, Jeramy found his new passion when he changed career paths and became a Crisis Case Manager for Bluebonnet Community Services.
Jeramy was the kindest and sweetest person and with the deepest sorrow, everyone who knew Jeramy, even just a little, has lost a shining light in their lives. He cared so deeply for everyone he friended. We will especially miss his humor, practical jokes, love of spending time with his boys, hunting, fishing & his travels through the Texas Hill Country.
Visitation for Jeramy will take place on Friday, January 17 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home at 9700 Anderson Mill Rd in Austin, Texas. A celebration of life service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.
Jeramy’s life was marked by his dedication to education, family, and service to others. His priority was to always help those in the midst of crisis. His memory will be cherished by all those who knew him.
