Jerry Warren Scibielski was called to meet our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 12, 2020. He was born October 10, 1938 in Częstochowa, Poland. Experiencing life in a communist country inspired his passion for education, earning a Master of Electrical Engineering from Wroclaw Technical University, Poland, in February of 1963. He used his determination, knowledge and impeccable work ethic to leave Poland after completing his undergraduate degree and worked his way through Western Europe, alongside his wife, Halina Scibielski. They secured an opportunity to travel to Canada where they had their son, Paul Scibielski.
After years of diligently and tediously seeking opportunities to come to the United States, their life’s dream came true when Jerry accepted a job that brought their family to Austin, Texas in March of 1979! He then earned a Master of Business Administration from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas in May of 1985. This achievement also included a 4.0 GPA and being a member of Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, Beta Kappa Chapter. Jerry tirelessly devoted himself to his work and his family, even driving from Austin to Fort Hood every weekday, in a car with no air conditioning, so that his son could attend reputable schools.
Jerry then established himself at Texas Instruments, followed by time working for IBM, Dell, and National Instruments. He retired in 2013 as a valued employee, leader, and mentor.
Jerry’s love of learning and books was passed down to his son, who was a stellar student and now practices as a board certified physician in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Jerry is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Halina; son, Paul, daughter-in-law, Julia, and granddaughter, Claire. Becoming a Grandfather, aka “JaJa,” was one of the most special and meaningful life events for Jerry. He was able to spend every Sunday with Claire, either in-person or on video chat, every week since she was born.
A celebration of life will be held in October of this year at St. Thomas More Catholic Church where he and his family have been members since 1980.
