

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jesse Luna Barba, at the age of 85, he peacefully died surrounded by his loving family. He was born on the second of May, 1940 in Austin, Texas to Ignacio Rodriguez Barba and Guadalupe Luna. Jesse was a devoted son, husband and father who dedicated his life to his family and friends.
He was a pillar of strength and a well known plumber to his community with his unwavering work ethic. Jesse is survived by his wife, Eva Guerra of fifty-five years, daughter Chriselda Barba-Majalca and her husband, Michael, their son Eric Michael, daughters Andrea Mia and Alexa Estreya. Son Carlos Nicholas Barba and his son Robert Nicholas. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary E. Davila and MaryAlice Case, numerous nieces and nephews and other children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio R. Barba, Guadalupe Luna and also his brother Peter Barba.
Whether he was fishing or hunting with his buddies, coaching softball games, marching band concerts, attending mass with his family or picking up lottery tickets at the corner store he did everything with enthusiasm and compassion. Jesse leaves behind a legacy of love and memories we will cherish forever. We will miss him immensely.
In honor of our father Jesse, we invite everyone to wear any shade of blue, his favorite color. Honoring our Father as Pallbearers will be Michael J. Majalca and his son Eric Michael, Jesse Alvarez Sr and his son Jesse Jr, Jose Martinez and Remi Solis. Honorary Pallbearers are Carlos N. Barba and his son Robert N. Barba.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest. Entombment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, 11608 Chapel Lane Austin, Texas 78748.
