Joan was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a loving wife. She was a beautiful person with a generous spirit, a great sense of humor and was loved by all who knew her.
Joan retired from K-Mart 22 years ago and then spent over 14 years volunteering at Brackenridge Hospital. Her nurturing disposition and love of people were responsible for her receiving the noted “Volunteer of the Year” award during that time. Joan was married to Bill Morgan for 62 years. When they both retired in 1992, they spent their time traveling to all 50 states and Europe. Her passions were her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, reading and working in her ever expanding flower garden.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Buchanan and Maggie Cox, sisters, Wanda Wilkerson and Peg Medley and stepbrother Earl Bates.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, Bill, her daughter Connie and husband Bill Rexroat from Montgomery Texas, son Mark Morgan and wife Sheryl of Austin. Grandchildren Zach Matthews, Matt and Mason Morgan and great grandchild Kaley Matthews.
At Joan’s request, no services will be held. The family will have a private ceremony to share precious memories and grant Joan’s wish of spreading her ashes in her beloved flower garden.
The family would like to thank New Century Hospice and West Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare for giving her such special treatment during her last months and days.
In lieu of flowers, Joan requested that contributions be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinson.org/donate.
