Joe Jacobs loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009. He was born on March 20, 1922. Joe worked for 7-Up Bottling Co. for 36 years and worked 16 years as a Security Guard for Fox KTBC TV Station. He retired in 2002 at the age of 80. Joe served four years in the US Marines. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor. Joe was a member of the Men's Club at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, and also worked as an Usher for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jacobs; son, Joe D. Jacobs; granddaughter, Robin Jacobs; great-granddaughters, Haley Gunderson and Katelyn Gunderson; brother, Cornal P. Jacobs. The family would like to thank the staff at Southwood Nursing Care and South Austin Hospital for Joe's care during his illness. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish South Congress. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel South Congress with Reverend Joseph A. Tomei CSC officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
