Joey Ruiz

Joey Ruiz, 34, of Austin, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 with his family at his side. He was born on November 20, 1975 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe and Lupe Ruiz, and moved to Austin in 1986.

Joey graduated from Bowie High School in 1993 and upon graduation he attended the University of Texas with an academic scholarship. Following his attendance at the University he began to work for the General Motors Support Center, where he spent 8 dedicated years. He started off as a Customer Relations Agent and worked his way up to later became an Operations Manager. Joey enjoyed helping people in a variety of different ways so he obtained an Insurance Agent license to begin working for State Farm. He really loved working there because he was able to help his clients with their needs.

Joey married Heather Bailey in April of 2000 in Austin, Texas.

Joey had many things he enjoyed such as baseball, he was an avid Astros fan. He loved to watch television, Seinfeld being one of his favorite shows and watch movies. He listened to and enjoyed all types of music and on his creative side enjoyed writing and art.

The driving force behind all Joey did was his family. His greatest desire was to provide the best life for his wife and children and nothing came before that. One of his favorite things to do was have family movie night with pizza. He would sit in his recliner with each of his children snuggled upon either side of him and enjoy the evening.

Joey will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and family man.

Joey is survived by his wife, Heather Ruiz; children, Dominic and Claudia Ruiz; parents, Joe and Lupe Ruiz; brother, Anthony Ruiz, nephews, Adam and Justin Ruiz; niece Bryana Ruiz and other loving family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr.
