John retired from IBM in 1982, and after a brief stint of retirement he went to work for Louis Shanks of Austin for 10+ years, where he dearly loved his co-workers.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty Darnaby, his daughter Lynn Carmichael and her husband Justin, his son Chris Darnaby, granddaughter Amanda Darnaby, grandson Austin Darnaby, his sister Missy Tharpe and her husband David, and his neice Ashley Hammond and her husband Dru.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Austin Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
A celebration of his life will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, on Saturday May 14th from 3-5PM. 9700 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin Texas 78750
