

John Ray Keeler, age 71, of Austin, Texas died September 5, 2009. He was born in Avoca, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1938 and spent time in various places through his military career before residing in Austin, Texas. "Ray" especially enjoyed Sunday visits to Walnut Creek Baptist Church and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of us. "Ray" was preceded in death by his parents John and Verba Keeler and daughter Maria. He is survived by his loving wife, Fernanda Ramirez Keeler: his children, George and wife Eleanor Amaro of Austin, Tammi Gilgio of Pennsylvania, William Stanley Keeler of Florida, Raymond Jessie and Jennifer Keeler of El Paso, and Kandie and husband Clay Crider of Austin, Texas. "Ray" leaves behind nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Wyant of Phillipsburg, New Jersey along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday September 14, 2009 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 12062 North Lamar, Austin, Texas. The family wishes to thank the staff of the VA Hospital in Temple, VA Physicians of Austin, Dr Edward Chafizadeh and his in-home nurses and caregivers for the outstanding care given to Mr. Keeler. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his honor to Walnut Creek Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministries.
