John Petryszak

John Petryszak accepted his invitation to join the place that was prepared for him with many rooms on March 20th, 2020. John passed away peacefully at The Village at the Triangle and joined his beloved Lord and Savior in heaven. “Johnny” was born on October 10, 1935 in West Virginia to Mary Stasiuk Petryszak and John Petryszak. He moved with his parents first to Pennsylvania and then to Akron, Ohio, where he moved next door to the love of his life and future wife, Glenna June Napier. They married on May 23, 1956 and had two children, Deborah Ann and John William. John was fiercely proud of his wife of 64 years, Glenna; his daughter, Deborah, and her husband, Stephen Yurco, and their three children, Rebekah Judith Maloney and her husband, Taylor Maloney, Stephen Daniel Yurco and his fiancée, Kathleen Michelle See, and John Phillip Yurco; and his son John William Petryszak and his wife, Cindy Johnson Petryszak, and their two children, Amanda Lauren Mansour and her husband, Will Mansour, and their son, William, and Ashley Lynn Lopez-Davila and her husband, Gonzo Lopez-Davila. Special thanks and love to “adopted family member” Marleny Rivera and her children, Karleigth and Osbaldo, who were always a part of his life. In addition to his family, John is also survived by his younger siblings, Michael Petryszak and his wife, Kay, and all of their children and grandchildren; Mary Ann Petryszak Gipson and her husband Vergle Gipson and all of their children and grandchildren; and Jim Petryszak and his wife Cindy and all of their children and grandchildren. John is preceded in death only by his parents and beloved grandparents, BaBa and GeGe

John began his career in sales and management for Firestone Tire and General Tire in Ohio until he ultimately joined his good friend, Ray Ross, to help build Quaker State in South Florida. John continued to work in the sales of car related products for over 50 years from Quaker State to Ultra Seal and Flamingo Oil to his own business. John and Glenna lived near their son and his family until John retired and moved with his wife to Texas in 2013 to be closer to their daughter.

John was an avid golfer and he thoroughly enjoyed all sports—especially football, basketball, and baseball. He loved following his beloved Miami Dolphins and was fortunate to have them remain the only “perfect team in the NFL” during his lifetime!

John was a devoted blood donor, giving over 15 gallons of blood over his lifetime. He was active in his home church, Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church, serving as chair of the Pastor Parish Relations, Finance, and Building and Grounds Committees, as an Usher, as a Bible Study Leader, and as a Sunday School Leader. He also served as Santa Claus for over 20 years during the church’s Snow Fest. John was also a volunteer with the local Hospice organization in his community in Florida. When John and Glenna moved to Texas, they joined Hyde Park Baptist Church and enjoyed the Word taught there and the companionship he found, especially from devoted persons like Dan Gardner.

John enjoyed the attention and friendship he received at the Village at the Triangle, Circle of Friends at Temple Beth Israel, and Mike’s Place through Meals on Wheels Central Texas. He appreciated those outings each week, and the feeling that he was needed still and mattered, especially as the personal Bingo caller at Mike’s Place! His family is thankful for the amazing care and kindness that was extended to John by Hospice Austin, Halcyon Home and the people at the Village at the Triangle and the Memory Care Center at The Triangle as well as their many friends and family members that brought meals, shared visits, provided rides and kept John and the family in their prayers.

Services will be held at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church in Hollywood, Florida. Due to COVID-19, services will be postponed until the near future.
