
John D. Watson passed away on June 29, 2005 in Houston, Texas. He was born August 6, 1932 in Austin, Texas. He attended all grade levels in the Austin Independent School District and went on to attend the University of Texas. He played baseball at the University of Texas for Bibb Faulk in the mid 50's. After leaving the University he attended the Army Intelligence School, Department of Counterintelligence, Fort Holabird, Maryland. Following Army Intelligence, he and Dorothy began a family and moved to Houston in 1962 to take a job with Industrial Security. He had a career in the sporting goods industry where he went on to create many fishing products in a company known as Gulf Coast Lures. John enjoyed baseball and coached many teams in the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association. John will be missed greatly by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 50 years; his son Randy Watson and wife Vicki; grandchildren Ryan, Reed, and Rachel; his daughter Cynthia McShurley and husband Scott, grandchildren Stan, Stacy, and Stuart. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathleen Jones officiating. Burial will be private.
