

Johnny O’dell Simmank, age 60, of Austin passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011. He was born in Austin, Texas on August 8, 1950. He attended Travis High and Capital Trade where he earned his Air Condition License in 1972. Johnny married Karen Birdwell Simmank on March 13, 1981. They made South Austin their permanent residence. Johnny retired in 2003 from the University of Texas.
Preceding Johnny in death were his parents, Adolph and Henrietta Simmank; son, Johnny Jr.; sister, Mildred Jeanette.
Family surviving him includes wife, Karen Simmank; son, Justin Simmank; daughter, Jennifer Simmank; grandchildren, Nevin and Ryan Simmank; brother, James (Peanut) Simmank; sister, Judy and husband Ricky Nevels; sister, Janice Mitchell, sister, Jolyn and husband Mark Jackson, sister, Janie Simmank and partner Michelle Heinz; and many nieces and nephews.
Johnny you were a very generous, caring, loving and friendly man. You were a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Your bright smile and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, Manchaca, Texas.
