Jose Martinez, age 55, of Austin passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006. He was born August 29, 1950, in Gonzales, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Jolanda Martinez; son, John R. Martinez; daughters, Rose Marie Martinez, J. Marissa Martinez and Jessika M. Martinez all of Austin; brothers, David M. Martinez of Luling and Samuel Martinez of Dallas; mother-in-law Cande Philips; sister-in-laws, Virginia Roman and husband George, Eleanor Bartle, Tammie Fila and husband Chad; nieces and nephews. Jose was a clerk for the U. S. Postal service and he loved golf and bowling. He will be missed by his many friends and co-workers. Pallbearers will be John Martinez, David Martinez, Eric Waelder, Henry Rios, Al Sanchez and Ray Felan. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Roman, Rick Salazar, Fi Garcia and Rick Aleman. A Rosary will be held Monday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 126 W. Oltorf, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
