

Josie B. Alvarado, born February 1, 1934 to Florencio and Maria Bargas went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2009. Only after all her children had begun school she began her career with Child and Family Service. As a social worker she found her calling, dedicated to helping families in the Austin area many who became life time friends. Mom would literally bring her work home sometimes offering a place for those in need to stay until they could get back on their feet. She was the rock of our family and raised her seven children with unconditional love and affection. We will forever keep her memories alive. Preceded in death by her parents; her loving children, Sylvia A. Gonzalez, Paul Alvarado; grandson, Mathew Scheuermann; brothers, John and Henry Bargas; sisters, Eloise Cruz, Herlinda Hernandez, Mary Agnes Vasquez. Josie is survived by husband of 54 years, John Alvarado Jr., sons, Fred Saucedo, John Alvarado (Gina); daughters, Rachel Saucedo, Cindy Salinas, Patricia Alvarado (Ralph), brother, Albert Bargas; sisters, Lucy Abeita, Rosie Villalobos, Cora Vargas, Connie Day; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandkids that she loved and cherished. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason and Andrew Alvarado, Robert Scheuermann, Gabriel Cortez, Dave Garcia, Beau Butler and Roland Cantu. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home South. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
