Joyce was baptized at age 14 in July of 1949. She met Aubrey in July of 1950. Graduated Manor High School in 1952. Her 1st job was picking pecans with a $1 a day pay. Her work career ended with the City Clerk's office in Austin, Texas. She was a Pastor's wife, women's Bible teacher; singer, music leader and choir director; Pianist; made greeting cards and created her own greetings, (birthday's her favorite); sewed; made and like to eat fresh bread; liked school and wanted to be a teacher, with English being her favorite subject. A West Texas family vacation was her favorite. She liked trips to the beauty salon; Garcia's Mexican food and Cracker Barrel's catfish; hummingbirds, reading, tongue twisters, volley ball, croquet and bad mitten. Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans were her favorite actors. Her mother was her best friend. Dusty was her beloved doggie and friend.
Joyce will be always be remembered for her sweet spirit, strong faith, her deep love for family and friends; charitable, giving heart; her ever ready hospitality, (she always had time to sit and visit) and was an impeccable housekeeper. She was a true woman of virtue and a fantastic mother.
Funeral service will be livestreamed at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25th on Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/CookWaldenForestOaks) The in-person event will be by invitation only. Private graveside service to follow.
