Julie was born on September 25, 1953, in Palestine, Texas, to Nick and Winifred (Corley) Grivich, the 3rd child and baby of the family.
Julie grew up in Winnie, Texas, where her father was Superintendent of Schools and her mother taught 5th grade reading. She was surrounded by individuals with a strong sense of service and education. In fact, Julie’s entire immediate family were educators except for Julie, who was an attorney because her handwriting was so bad.
After high school graduation, Julie attended Lamar University making life-long friends. She then transferred to the University of Houston where she earned a BA and then a JD. Afterward, Julie worked as an assistant DA in Galveston County and then moved to Huntsville, Texas, to a general law practice.
At the suggestion of her sister, Leanne, Julie sent applications and within a week had secured a job and relocated to the city she loved so well, Austin.
It was here that Julie met and married Harold, joined St. John Neumann, St. Vincent de Paul, Lay Missionaries of Charity, and later the Rotary Club of Austin.
Julie loved to travel, her pets and horses, and volunteering to help others better their lives.
Julie is survived by her husband Harold; sister Leanne Woodward and husband Mac; brother Pat Grivich and wife Terrie; niece and nephews, and great-niece & great-nephews.
