Julia Emerson Fisher Walther

Julia Emerson Fisher Walther of Austin died on July 2, 2008 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She was born on June 30, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland to Walter Wooldridge Fisher and Julia McRae Scarbrough. Julia was a resident at The Summit at Westlake Hills upon her death. Julia was the descendant of two pioneer families of Austin, the Fishers and the Scarbroughs. She grew up in Austin and attended Wooldridge Elementary and University Junior High School and graduated from The Baldwin School. She graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a degree in French. While at the University she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She married William Charles Walther and they resided in Houston, Texas until his death in 1966. She returned to Austin and was a member of many organizations in Austin including The Junior League Sustainers, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae, The Open Forum, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Julia was preceded in death by her parents Julia and Walter Fisher and her husband William Walther. She is survived by her cousins, Margaret Scarbrough, Lemuel Scarbrough Jr. , Alice Scarbrough of Austin, Texas, Walter Fisher of Beaumont, Texas, and Betty Scarbrough of Harwichport, Massachusetts. She is also survived by Lee Scarbrough of Harwichport, Massachusetts, David Scarbrough of Heathsville, Virginia, Nancy Garrison, Douglas Scarbrough, and Lynn Ellen Ryals of Austin. The family expresses its gratitude to the staff at The Summit at Westlake Hills. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Oakwood Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at The Summit at Westlake Hills at 2:00 p.m. officiated by The Reverend Francis Raffalovich.
