Our beautiful baby girl, Julie (Julz), was born on September 5, 1985, in Odessa, TX to Mark and Blynda Langford. Julie suddenly passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on March 14, 2026, at the age of 40. She never married but she found the man of her dreams, the love of her life, when she became a mother to her son, Hunter. She was a loving daughter, sister, and Mom and lived every moment to the fullest.
Julie lived a very full and rewarding life. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to help people, especially children. She originally wanted to teach young children, and she did that for some time. Eventually she found a career in the Foster Care industry which she loved. It was difficult and emotional at times; however, the rewards outweighed it all. She was able to attend adoptions and placed many children into the loving arms of families which made her heart happy and full.
When Julie started Kindergarten, she could already read and write. She attended Forest North Elementary in Round Rock ISD, Grisham Middle School, and graduated from Westwood High School in May 2004. She earned 12 college credits while in high school then studied one year at Austin Community College. She then transferred to Texas State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary education in 2007 with Suma Cum Laud honors. She desperately wanted to teach elementary age children; however, upon graduation, there were no teaching jobs available. Julie began working for Girling and supervised the home caregivers who assisted the elderly and those who were unable to care for themselves. After a couple of years in that role, she was welcomed into the Foster Care industry and that became her passion in life.
Julie was very well-rounded. She began taking dance and gymnastics at the age of 3. At age 8, she decided to try fast pitch softball. At the first practice, she got hit hard on the mouth by a ball! At first, she wanted to quit but then she got angry and hit a homerun! She made the “All-Star” team the first year she played and that led to playing on a “Select” team by the age of 10. She began taking pitching lessons from well-known coaches as well as pitchers from the University of Texas softball team. Her “Select” team went all the way to the National Tournament held in Steamboat, CO. She loved playing softball, but she also played volleyball and basketball in middle school and was a member of the Dance Academy at Westwood High School. She acted, danced, and sang in several plays and musicals. She was also in choir during middle and high school and was a self-taught artist. Later in life, she was called to be a member of our church’s Praise Team where she shined singing soprano, and she could beautifully belt out those high notes! She also loved all animals and leaves behind her beloved dog, Chief, and sweet cat, Maizie. The Lord blessed her with many talents, and she used them to her best ability.
Julie was blessed with a baby boy on November 2, 2014. When Julie found out she was having a baby, she moved back home and brought that beautiful baby boy into our lives. She and Hunter eventually moved into their own house in Buda, TX. Julie was always so independent. Her first full sentence when she was a baby was “I can do it myself!”. And she kept that mentality her whole life. If you were ever lucky enough to see her and Hunter together, you could see, feel, and know the love between them. We truly believe that God blessed her with Hunter and he changed her life forever. Julie loved the Lord and put all her faith and trust in His hands. During the good times and the bad, she surrendered her burdens and struggles to Him and trusted His plan for her.
Julie is preceded in death by her paternal Grandfather, Floyd Langford, and Great-Grandparents, Wilbert and Mary Cutbirth and Jack and Lucille Hardaway.
Julie is survived by her 11-year old son, Hunter David Langford, parents Mark and Blynda Langford of Austin, TX, her brother Jeffrey Langford and sister-in-law Megan Langford of Pflugerville, TX, her sister Janna Sweeney and brother-in-law Nathan Sweeney of Kyle, TX, maternal Grandparents Michael and Frances Hardaway of Cloudcroft, NM, paternal Grandmother Patricia Langford of Austin, TX, along with several Aunts and Uncles, many cousins, nieces and nephews, sincerely loved friends, and anyone who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on March 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on March 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Western Hills Church of Christ, 6211 Parkwood Dr, Austin, TX, 78735, followed by the burial at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W William Cannon Dr., Austin TX 78749.
