June Garland Johnston

Mrs. June Garland Johnston, Austin, Texas (formerly of Bridgeport, Michigan and Horseshoe Bay, Texas), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the age of 92.

The daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Nicholson and Olive Evans Nicholson, June was born on May 19, 1923 in Bellevue, Michigan. She married Warren D. Johnston, her loving husband of 70 years, on November 26, 1942 at her home in Bellevue. He predeceased her on November 16, 2012.

June was a member of Bridgeport Community Church and she and her husband were also instrumental in founding The Church at Horseshoe Bay. They served in numerous activities in both locations. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in Michigan and Texas and especially at their cottage in Lewiston, Michigan. She also loved traveling, gardening, and always doing for others.

June's four children survive her: Jeff Johnston & Liz, Oscoda, MI, Joanne Forth & Doug, Louisville, CO, Dean Johnston, Lewiston, MI and Jill Hebert & Mike, Austin, TX. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, her sister, Joan Ruell and many nieces and nephews.

June’s family extends their gratitude to many caring nurses at Brodie Ranch, especially Jodi for her love and compassionate care.

A Celebration of June’s Life will take place in Michigan at a later date.
