On March 9th, 2010 we all lost something. Some lost a son, a father or a husband, some a friend, a brother, a counselor or mentor. Kevin Jones was all these things and we are unexpectedly feeling the loss of his presence in our lives. And, considering all of the ways Kevin served us, his community and the Lord, it is hard for us to imagine that God's plan for Kevin was complete. Kevin's brother-in-law, Eric, once said that when Kevin decided to do something he went all out. His "all out" service to our Lord seems to have started during his Walk to Emmaus, three years ago. The Walk was a remarkable turning point for Kevin. Since that time his love for God has been evident to all who know him and he has expressed his love in so many ways. Many of us here have enjoyed learning God's word in Sunday School with Kevin providing the instruction. Kevin has also served as the Emmaus leader for our church, as a Stephen Minister, an AWANA leader, a beloved and respected member of his home team and most recently as a Deacon. His service went beyond our church to the larger community where Kevin was a volunteer with Mobile Loaves and Fishes, serving the homeless in the Austin area as well as helping on numerous local volunteer projects. We can all think back and remember Kevin's passion for people. Relationships were paramount. He made you feel as if you were the most important person to him at any moment. His attention to you and what you would say, his engaging conversation and charming smile would make anyone feel blessed to be with him. To say Kevin will be missed is an understatement. To think Kevin is gone would be wrong. His memory will continue to live in each and every person he touched and his soul is now with our Father in Heaven. Kevin will be missed but we should celebrate today his life glorifying our Lord. Kevin is survived by his loving wife Erin Jones and their two daughters Emily Marie and Kayla Kathleen. Kevin is also survived by his grandfather Robert T. Jones, Sr., his Father Robert T. Jones Jr. and his wife Vicki Jones. His mother Kathleen Austin and her husband Jamie Laham. His sisters: Kimberly Downes and her husband Eric Downes, Carrie Schwerdtfeger and her husband Bret Schwerdtfeger, Jennifer Curtis and her husband Clay Curtis, Nicole Webb and her husband Patrick Webb, Nieces and Nephews: Kathryn Downes, Ryan Downes, Tucker Nosal and Paige Nosal, Cali Schwerdtfeger, Adison Schwerdtfeger Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd., Lakeway, Texas 78734 (512) 261-6632. You are invited to a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
