On one of the most beautiful days of the fall, November 9, 2012, Kristin Bomar Ryan, 47, precious wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend left her earthly home to take her place among the Heavenly angels. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her loving family.
A person of strong personal faith, Kristin always looked for the best in everyone. She was happiest when with her family and adored her boys as only a mother can. She loved singing and had fun with the boys making up silly songs. Through her courageous battle with cancer, she taught all those around her the meaning of grace, dignity, strength and true love.
Kristin was born on October 24, 1965 in Nashville, Tennessee to Tom and Betty Bomar. At ten months of age, the family moved to Houston, Texas where Kristin made many friends through her childhood years. Some of those friends have remained close until her passing. In 1978, the family moved to Portland, Texas where she graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in 1984. While in high school she was a member of the National Honor Society and was active in theatre arts, particularly loving the musical theatre. Again, many lifelong friends were made. In 1988, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked in the office of a United States Representative and in special events at the National Gallery of Art. While in
Washington, she met and married Jeffrey Ryan, the best thing to happen to her in her life. In 1994, Jeff and Kristin moved to Austin, Texas where their two wonderful sons were born and where she remained until her death.
Kristin is preceded in death by all of her grandparents. Left to cherish their many memories are her husband of almost 20 years, Jeffrey and her two beloved sons, Christopher and Sean. Also surviving are her parents, Tom and Betty Bomar of Portland, Texas; sister Jana (Mike) Norrell and nephews, Ryan and Collin of Sarita, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Jane and James Ryan of Orinda, California; brother-in-law Jim (Lisa) Ryan, nephew, Trevor, and niece Tara of Jackson, Wyoming; brother-in-law John Ryan of Washington, D.C.; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Kristin's life will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive, Austin, 78757 at 1:30 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2012 with a reception to follow at the church. Viewing will be on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 12 pm to 9 pm at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Boulevard.
