
I have been searching the Internet for some time for my friend, Lana.  I probably have been keying in the wrong thing, but I am now devastated to have found her too late.  I am heartbroken to learn she is gone, for a more charming and beautiful angel once walked among us.

Lana and I were very best friends throughout high school.  We car pooled together, ate lunch together, called each other every time we blew our noses and spent the night at one another's houses on weekends.  We double dated and were in the Thomas Jefferson Lassos together.  We parted ways after a year or so in college when I married Ray Walls and moved to Austin to work as he finished his last year at UT.  Then we moved all over the country during Ray's stint in the Air Force and afterward as a computer guy,moving from job to job.  Sadly, our lives became very busy with children and jobs and Lana and I lost track of one another.

Lana was a daredevil and a really, really good driver.  I wasn't -- am still not -- and so Lana always declared herself the driver when we went to football games, drive-in restaurants and cruising around San Antonio, which we did nearly every weekend.  I have so many really hilarious stories the things we did as teenagers, mostly involving something Lana dreamed up.  She was simply fun to be with.  

But besides being fun, Lana had a heart of gold.  She had not a mean bone in her body.  Everybody loved her, but I loved her most of all.  Here it is 50 years later and I still think of her often and when such things come up in conversation, tell about some of our "adventures" together.

To those who read this, please know that your mother, wife, friend or relative played a huge role in my life and was a dynamic, positive influence on me.  I did not know Lana as an adult -- I only knew the girl with the spunk in her spirit and the sparkle in her eye.  I shall miss her always and so regret now finding her until this sad day.

Dearest Mullen Family,    Our hearts are full with grief over Lana's loss. Gerri and I are still in a state of semi-shock.  We thought we were prepared, but I guess that never happens.    "The Three Muskateers" of Murray Park Church of Christ" will never be quite the same.  However, when we've had a bit to heal, we promise to have lots of laughs remembering all the fun stuff we did together. In fact, I'll bet the first thing Lana does is teach the other angels how to play Bridge.      Love and hugs to you all.



I remember growing up and spending hours with my best friends down the block until, eventually, their mother would say, "Your mother called and it's time for you to go home."   We would always try to wrangle five more minutes, but, reluctently, home I went.  And, you know, they always let me in, and it was always better there then anywhere else. . .  We would have loved another five minutes, a hug, a laugh, just another few words, but your Father was calling and we know you went with joy to see Him becaue with Him is better then anywhere else. Lana, there are no words to truly express how much I love you.  I've been blessed to have you in my life for the past 12 years.  You've always been steadfast in your love for God and your dedication to the Lord's church. You were instrumental in leading me out of the darkness.  Thank you for being a wonderful, spirited, and inspirational  presence in my life.  I will keep you in my heart always.  I love you.



Mama, I miss you very much.  You were my best friend.  I miss your gentle touch and your words of encouragement.  I'm relieved that you are no longer in pain and are in God's arms now.  You were and will always be a beacon of strength, love, and hope in my life and the lives of so many.  I love you.



Remembering good times, great laughs, beautiful singing in the  acapella audience - sweet vigil with  Mama B. and loving attention to our  little Hayden.......good meals in my  home, yard sales, teacher tales, and  great church services!  I love Lana,  Linda Spigner



Please accept my sympathy on Lana's passing.     Lana was a good friend to me. Her wonderful singing and many thoughtful acts of kindness are forever etched in my mind. Momma, You are so precious to me and you are my help in life.  You are so wise and compassionate.  You always knew how to handle any situation with grace and poise.  You made me the woman I am today and I will continue to talk to you daily.  This is not the end, momma, it's just the beginning. You're an angel now and you can watch over us until we meet again. Lana, our dear sister who was such a precious gift from God in our lives.  We were so blessed by her presence and the inspiration she was to us.  Her brave spirit and strong faith kept her going under difficult circumstances all through her life.  She fought the fight and won the battle and has gone home to receive a much deserved reward of peace and eternal love.  We will miss her each and every day but we will thank God that we were able to know her and share in her life.  She gave us laughter, tears, and, most of all, love.
