Larry James Shugart was born in Houston, Texas on March 7, 1949. He passed away on March 8, 2019 at his home in Johnson City, Texas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Dee Shugart and Lillian Scholwinski Shugart and brother, Don M. Shugart. He is survived by his son, Chris Shugart and wife, Katie; daughter, Paula Benningfield and husband, Cody; 6 grandchildren, Johnathan Benningfield, Taylor Benningfield, Rebecca Shugart, Emily Shugart, Blake Shugart, and Dylan Shugart; step-grandson, J.T. Weeks; former spouse, Cynthia; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park with Pastor Ernest Topper officiating.

Honoring Larry as pallbearers will be Chris Shugart, James Shugart, Cody Benningfield, Johnathan Benningfield, Will Evers, and Heath Howeth. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Lombard and J.T. Weeks.
