Larry “Levi” Wimberly, 67, of Austin, Texas passed from this Earth on Friday, February 5, 2016. He was born in Burnet, Texas on September 6, 1948 to Othal Clayton (O.C.) Wimberly and Doris L. Sims Wimberly.
Larry graduated from Travis High School in 1967. He and his twin brother were in the Army from 1968 – 1974. He then attended Southwest Texas State College and the University of Texas. He worked as a welder for a time while going to college and was proud to have worked on the LBJ Library, Breckenridge Hospital and the Decker Lake Power Plant. Larry worked on the family pecan farm for 25 years before going to work for Laurie Pair Consulting, his “breath of fresh air”. He worked with Laurie, his wife, Billie, sister-in-law, Sara Nelson and niece, Elizabeth Nelson for 19 years.
After his father became too ill to run the farm any longer, Larry took over the day to day operations of the farm. He took care of the farm until his father passed away in 2013. His love of the farm knew no bounds.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Billie Nelson Wimberly; stepson, Bill Brownlow; granddaughters, Sam Duncan and Cheyenne Brownlow (his shadow); grandson, Dalton Brownlow; sister-in-law, Sara Nelson and her husband, John and brother-in-law, Joe Nelson and his wife, Lena.
Also surviving Larry is his twin brother, Barry, his wife, Nena, their children, Craig and Jenny Wimberly; brother Steve, his wife Nancy, their children Turner, Clayton and Laura Wimberly, all of Austin, Texas; his Aunt Jody and numerous cousins.
He will be missed by all including good friends, Thomas “T” Tindall, Jorge Lopez, and Antonio Garcia.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Seton Hospital on 38th Street. There are too many to name over the years, but Dr. Sidney Robin and Dr. John Politz are just a couple that have touched our lives in a profound way and become personal friends of the family. We are eternally grateful for them.
Larry wished to be remembered as he was and requested that there be no services.
Always on our mind and forever in our heart.
