Laura Jo White was born February 12, 1930, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Andy and Nancy White, the youngest of six children. Much of her childhood and school years were spent in Roby, Texas. After graduating from Roby High School, Laura and her sister Marie moved to Dallas where they attended business school. During business school, Laura was introduced to Ben Baisdon by her oldest brother Jasper. Ben and Laura were married 65 years, until Ben’s death in 2020.
After living in Houston, Austin, and Jefferson City, Missouri, the Baisdon family moved back to Austin in August of 1965, where they raised their three children. Soon after settling in Austin, Laura joined Brentwood Church of Christ (now Brentwood Oaks). Over Laura’s 59 years of membership at Brentwood Oaks, and 54 years in the same North Acres house, she forged numerous invaluable friendships that continued until her death.
Beyond being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Laura filled numerous roles and positions including a keypunch operator, office manager, and kitchen manager for Meals on Wheels and Brentwood Oaks. Later in life, Laura enjoyed spending time with her closest friends, most notably playing weekly Mexican Train. Weekly domino games became something Laura looked forward to, not only for the fellowship but for the fun-loving teasing that took place.
Laura lived her last three years with daughter Benay and grandson Kyle in San Antonio, Texas. She often expressed how blessed she was to be under their care and being able to live at home.
Laura was surrounded by a large, loving family and is survived by her three children, Nancy Benay Cacciatore, Kevin Harlan Baisdon (wife Carol), and Timothy Jay Baisdon (wife Betsabeth). Also survived by eight grandchildren: Cameron Heikkila, Kyle Cacciatore, Gilma Liliana Orozco (husband Jesse), Maria Fernanda Nelson (husband Kerry), Lina Del Pilar Forero Nino, Shelby, Morgan, and Carly Macias, and four great grandchildren: Carlos Orozco, Nicolas Nelson, Diego Orozco, and Carolina Nelson.
