Laurie Lastinger Kern of Austin died peacefully on January 14, 2006. Laurie was born on January 27, 1942. She was raised in Austin, graduating from Austin High School and attended Southwest Texas University. Laurie retired from NationsBank (currently Bank of America) in 1996, as an Assistant Vice President with the Security Department. She is survived by her husband, Dale Kern; a son, Philip Mason Jr. and wife Michelle of Austin; a daughter, Stephanie Fowler and husband Rell of Austin; 5 grandchildren, Claire and Emily Mason, Lauren, Tyler, and Jackson Fowler; one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Mason, also of Austin; and by a nephew, Ken Lastinger of Austin. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Ruth Lastinger; a brother, William R. Lastinger; a grandson, Anthony C. Mason; and a nephew, David Lastinger. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
