
Dear Mrs. Stahlke, Becky, and all of the Stahlke clan:

I just finished writing a hand-written note to Mrs. Stahlke, but with the postal workers on strike in Chile, I am not sure that it will ever get to you.  As I write, many fond memories come to mind of Mr. Stahlke in my childhood, and even though I didn't have the privilege of knowing him better as an adult, he will always be a cherished example and role model.   I remember when he would tuck Becky and me into bed during our many sleep overs, and his quiet, reverence in the blessing of meals.  I remember his laughter at our games and the visits to his office, a couple of times for getting into trouble, at the Lutheran Seminary.  But one of my fondest memories, that perhaps illustrates the less "formal" side of his personality and sense of humor, is  one where he dressed up as a mummy for the Community Halloween Party.  I was at your house that day, and so was let into the family secret.  I even helped wrap him up and stand him in the corner of the party hall.  Remember how he had everyone  trying to guess who the mysterious mummy was?  He even gave a couple of people a fright by moaning when then got too close in their inspection of the  mummy "statue!"  I kept the secret all night, and felt special in being a part of the fun.  He won the "best costume" prize that night.

I will be praying for you as you grieve your loss and as you celebrate his life, full of joy, service, and dedication to his Lord.

Leonard was for me un hombre cristiano ejemplar.  I regrest that we have not seen each other in the last years.  In spite of time and many things that have happened, I have very deep and fond memories of our time together at the Seminary in Mexico City.  I really appreciate your friendship and felt many times welcome by you at different places.
My Seminary professors will be in my memory as long at it is with me, and I will thank God for each one of them and their families.
Thank you and may our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, grant you, Lucille and children, the comfort that He only knows how to provide.

Rev. Stalke taught me at Concordia. He was the kindest ,most intelligent professor I had. He was also my friend. My condolences to his family.Heaven has a wonderful new resident.

We were dee[y saddened at the news of Len's departure.  The death of a fellow pastor and missionary always strikes home.  We pray that you will find your comfort and strength in the faith which Len so openly, willingly, and joyously proclaimed.  May all the people who heard from him the wonderful news of Jesus" death and resurrection greet him in the heavenly mansion.  May Jesus give you comfort and strength in the difficult days that lie ahead  Look forward to the joyous time of reunion with Len and all your loved ones in the home prepared for you and us by Jesus.
