She was 93 years old having arrived on this earth on June 26th, 1928.
Lillie Belle was the first born child of her loving parents, Adolf and Ethel Jacobson, who preceded her in death. Lillie also had a little brother whom she was very fond of, Lt. Col. Adolph D. Jacobson, who also preceded her in death.
Lillie was born in Austin, Texas and graduated from Austin High School in 1946.
Upon graduation, she worked faithfully for the Texas Highway Department until her retirement.
Lillie was married to her beloved husband Rubert for 68 years and their marriage inspired and touched all they crossed paths with. Before Rubert’s passing in 2016, you could find them both on most nights at their favorite restaurant in Austin, the Frisco Shop. If they weren’t there, it was probably because their son or one of their grandchildren was playing in a game somewhere in Austin. Everyone who knew Rubert and Lil would testify they exemplified what God dreamed up when he invented the marriage institution.
Lillie had her heart broken when she lost a daughter just minutes after birth, Peggy Marlyne Ceder (September 10, 1950). Her heart was broken a second time when she lost a son, Carl Carroll Ceder (May 29, 1952), just minutes after his arrival. Naturally, Lillie grieved her losses and her surviving family is delighted to know she has now been reunited with the two children she never got to see grow up.
On May 30th of 1953, Lillie’s grief turned to joy with the adoption of her only son Dennis. Lillie was an exemplary mother and devoted her life to the role. She delighted in all of her son’s accomplishments, never missed one of his games and stood by him with love all the days of his life until his passing in 2017. Lillie was also very fond of her son’s wife Teresa. She always treated her like a treasured daughter and greatly assisted her in everything she did. Their camaraderie and friendship was truly special and Teresa will greatly miss her loving mother-in-law.
As a grandmother, Lillie was one of a kind. Her grandsons, Keith, Anthony and Carl loved her very much and they will never forget her sacrificial impact. She was perpetually generous with them, present at every single event, and lavished them all with love since the day each of them was born. They all have countless special memories with her and will never forget her profound impact.
Lillie also cherished her daughters-in-law, Jennifer (married to Anthony) and Denise (married to Keith), and she was very proud and fond of all 7 of her great-grandchildren, Sienna, Slade, Graham, Corrie, Hudson, Lucy and Benjamin.
Lillie was a Christian all her life, with her family being members at Central Methodist Church of Austin. In her teenage years, she was confirmed at the Swedish Evangelical Church on Colorado and 17th street in Austin. Once Rubert and Lil married, they became members of Decker United Methodist Church in Austin where they served faithfully for over 70 years. All whose hope is in the Lord Jesus will most certainly see Lillie Belle Ceder again.
The funeral service will be held at Decker Methodist Church in Austin on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., with the interment to follow in the Decker Methodist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Decker Methodist Church of Austin, Texas (8304 Decker Ln., Austin, Texas 78724).
