Lin Parker Ory passed away in her home in Austin, Texas at age 66 on October 23, 2025. Lin was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated from Broadmoor High School, Our Lady of the Lake nursing school, and Louisiana State University where she learned to love ancient Latin and Greek. Lin had a rewarding career as a surgical nurse at the Baton Rouge General Hospital but eventually chose to pursue a graduate degree in Classics at the University of Texas at Austin. Her loving husband, Henry, joined her there. In her free time, Lin loved capturing the world through her camera, exploring new places, and sailing with Henry across Lake Pontchartrain, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Lin was a great conversationalist, drawing on her studies and travels to engage others with insight and humor. Her quick wit and kind heart made her a joy to be around and a comfort to those who
knew her best.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Joel Henry Ory, her parents Louis Ralph Parker and Betty Parker Ward, and her brother Gary Arthur Parker, DDS. She is survived by her brother Mike Parker, his wife Sharon of Baton Rouge; her stepson Michael Ory, his wife Alyce, and grandchildren Louise, Henry, and James Ory of Nashville, Tennessee; her stepdaughter Wendy, husband John Cappiello, and grandchildren Carly, Sarah, and Rachel Cappiello of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Emma Robinson, Brandy Jones and the Robinson family for their loving care and deep devotion to Lin.
In keeping with Lin’s wishes there will be no formal service, and her family will celebrate her life privately by sprinkling her ashes into the Gulf of Mexico—a place she and her husband
loved and found peace.
