Linda was born March 23, 1942 in Fairview, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John L. Maynard and Lucille V. Plautz.
She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Edinboro College in Edinboro, PA and later completed her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at Tulane University. While serving in Bolivia as a missionary, Linda met Donald Drga. They married in 1970, beginning a life together that included postings worldwide and travel throughout many countries.
Linda’s public health career included work as a nurse at various US embassies around the world, including Jamaica, Paraguay, Panama, The Gambia, and Mozambique. Her final job before retiring was with the Fairfax County (Virginia) Health Department, where she served as Tuberculosis Coordinator.
Don and Linda retired to Austin, Texas in November 2002. In Austin, Linda enjoyed gardening at home and also spent her time volunteering with multiple organizations around the city. She was a lifetime member of the Travis County Master Gardener Association. Other volunteer activities included serving as a nurse at the Volunteer Health Clinic and ushering for Texas Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Austin and for Zach Theater.
It was her grandchildren who brought her greatest joy. Linda also enjoyed traveling the world with friends and family. Her favorite destinations were Italy, the Czech Republic and cruising on the rivers of Europe.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Drga.
She is survived by her brothers John Maynard, Charles Maynard, and David Maynard; her children Todd Drga and Kalima Drga; and her grandchildren Madeleine Drga and Lukas Drga.
