Lorena Reyes

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved and unforgettable sister, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, Lorena Reyes, at the age of 75. She entered the presence of the Lord on March 15, 2026, leaving an immense void in our hearts.

Lorena was born in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, on September 28, 1950, the third daughter of Armando and Lilly Reyes. She completed her studies at Colegio María Auxiliadora in Granada, alongside her older sisters, María Lily and Urania.

Lorena gave all her love as a mother to her only son, Nelson Danilo Bermúdez, who preceded her in death unexpectedly in 2011. She poured that same motherly love into her beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, and Sofia Bermúdez, who were her pride and joy and who will always remember her as their unforgettable “Tita.” She is survived by her grandchildren, her siblings María Lily and Richard Wallace, Wilfredo Gutiérrez, Silvana Reyes, Berma and Bayardo Selva, María Lourdes and José Luis Castillo, Rommel and Giovana Reyes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Throughout her life, Lorena was the soul of every gathering. She delighted everyone with her overflowing joy and beautiful voice, singing ranchera songs, which were her specialty. Her life was marked by an abundance of love, smiles, and affection, always surrounded by friends and family, for whom she always had a heartfelt “Te amo” or “I love you.” Lorena lived each moment of her life to the fullest and fondly remembered her childhood at the “Ranchería” Hacienda, her visits to El Gavilán, and the love of her parents, siblings, and her large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life.

After going into exile with her family, Lorena faced with love and courage the challenges that inevitably come with leaving one’s homeland, especially with a young son by her side, Danilo, whom she raised and guided to become a good man until his unexpected passing. Danilo left her the most beautiful gift—his three children, who became her reason for living.

Lorena was preceded in death by her loving parents, Armando and Lily; her beloved son, Nelson Danilo; her siblings, Armando and Urania; her nephew, Wilfredo Gutiérrez; and her great-nieces, Arabella and Ava.

We invite all to join us in celebrating her life on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (Austin, TX time) at St. Catherine of Siena Church, located at 4800 Convict Hill Road, Austin, Texas 78749. Following the Mass, there will be a small reception in a church hall, followed by the burial at 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.

Con profundo dolor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida e inolvidable hermana, abuela, tia y prima Lorena Reyes a la edad de 75 años, quien pasó a la presencia del Señor el 15 de marzo de 2026, dejando un vacío enorme en nuestros corazones.

Lorena nació en Matagalpa, Nicaragua un 28 de septiembre de 1950, siendo la tercera hija de Armando y Lilly Reyes. Cursó sus estudios en el Colegio María Auxiliadora de Granada, junto a sus hermanas mayores, María Lily y Urania.

Lorena entregó su amor de madre a su único hijo Nelson Danilo Bermúdez quien la precedió con su inesperada muerte en el 2011. Ese amor de madre, lo volcó hacia sus adorados nietos Joshua, Andrew y Sofia Bermúdez, quienes eran su orgullo y alegría y que hoy la recuerdan como su inolvidable “Tita”. La sobreviven, además de sus nietos, sus hermanos María Lily y Richard Wallace, Wilfredo Gutiérrez, Silvana Reyes, Berma y Bayardo Selva, María Lourdes y José Luis Castillo, Rommel y Giovana Reyes, más numerosos sobrinos y primos.

Durante toda su vida, Lorena fue el alma de toda reunión. Deleitaba a todos con su desbordante alegría y su linda voz, entonando canciones rancheras que eran su especialidad. Su vida se caracterizó por su derroche de amor, sonrisas, cariño y siempre rodeada de amigos y familiares para los que siempre tenía un “Te amo” o un “ I love you”. Lorena disfrutó a plenitud cada momento de su vida y recordaba su niñez en la Hacienda “Ranchería”, los paseos a El Gavilán, siempre rodeada del amor de sus padres, hermanos, y la extensa familia de tíos, primos y sobrinos que formaron parte de su vida..

Luego de salir al exilio con su familia, Lorena enfrentó con amor y valentía los retos que inevitablemente viven todos aquellos que tienen que dejar su patria y más aún con un hijo pequeño a su lado, Danilo, a quien formó y sacó adelante para hacerlo un hombre de bien hasta su inesperada muerte. Danilo le dejó el regalo más hermoso en sus tres nietos quienes se convirtieron en su razón de vivir.

Lorena fue precedida en la muerte por sus amorosos padres Armando y Lily, su adorado hijo Nelson Danilo, sus hermanos Armando y Urania, sobrino Wilfredo Gutiérrez, y sobrinas nietas Arabella y Ava.

Invitamos a todos a unirse a nosotros para celebrar su vida el viernes, 27 de marzo de 2026 a las 10:00 am (hora de Austin, TX) en la Iglesia St. Catherine of Siena ubicada en el 4800 Convict Hill Road, Austin, Texas 78749. A continuación de la misa, tendremos una pequeña recepción en un salón de la iglesia seguida por el sepelio a las 2:00 pm en Cook-Walden/Forest Oak Memorial Park, ubicada en el 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
