The attached photo I took, is of Larry taking off on the U.S.S. Oriskany (CVA-34), in the Spring of 1975 during Operation Frequent Wind (Vietnam Evacuation) in a F-8 aircraft with squadron VFP-63, deployed out of NAS Miramar, CA.

I just learned of Larry's passing last year through the Reitered United Pilots Association (RUPA). What a shock! I knew Larry from the 
mid-70's thru 2007 at the Navy and United where we were both pilots. 
We also had  mutual friends, Joe and Joanne Cox. 
Throughout our Navy and United careers we would bump into each other off and on in United flight ops,  catching up on families, friends, our careers, etc. Last we spoke was in December 2017 when he called to say he was back in the USA.
I admired Larry very much for his accomplishments, humor, and leadership talents. I was not surprised when I learned that he was selected for Admiral in the Navy. He made a positive impact on everyone he met.

Although I had limited time with Larry, I was privelaged to share part of my aviation career with him. 

A true pilot in every sense of the word, and a great man, who always found a way to make people laugh. 

Aviation is poorer for his loss, but his legacy lives on through the wisdom he passed on to myself and others.

I am so thankful for the last few months that I was able to share with you, and I miss you terribly. CJ misses you courtside and every time Sadie sees an airplane she waves and says, "hi Papaw!" We love you dearly and even though our hearts hurt, you are in peace and free now. I love you Pop , we love you Papaw.

Thank you Larry for being you.  You lived an incredible life.  From UCLA and rooming with Kareem, to being a Top Gun fighter pilot and then pilot and instructor at United and Cathay, to having a powerful healing ministry. 

Lisa and I will always be thankful that God brought you and Becky out to HK to help us.  We will always be indebted to you.  Thank you for your constant encouragement and warm smile.  You will be greatly missed.  

Now enjoy your well deserved rest in the arms of the Father.

I have two milestones in my Christian life: one when I met God, and the other when I met Larry for the first time.  When I walked up to the alter on my first visit to SP, he looked so deep into my eyes as if they were windows to my soul and said you can forgive them now. My physical pain for which I went up there in the first place disappeared and I cried like a baby while Larry asked if he can give me a man-hug which he did.  Since then he tells me the same words in my mind whenever I need to remember them. Over the 5 years, we would call him up whenever our children were sick or we needed spiritual covering.  For me and my wife, the only devastating thing about his going to be with his Father, is that we never really asked him how he's really doing, what he is going through, and if we can pray for him on his behalf. We know he is recognized by God now for all the lives he has touched and changed for His kingdom.

Thank you Larry for walking with us all these years from Hong Kong to Beijing and most recently Singapore. So many words of wisdom and encouragement and truth and words of healing and life were spoken through this man as you tried to point us to Jesus. You will always be remembered and loved by the Kims and especially by Many of your spiritual children in SPBJ.  So much prayer and support and you cheered us on every step of the way whenever we wanted to give up. We will meet again in Heaven.

Thank you for the many words of encouragement and truth you spoke into my life all these years. They have made such a difference. I am so grateful for your friendship and mentorship. Miss you so much, Larry.  

A man to be remembered by his smile, jokes and open arms. Larry, you were a big part of my Christian life, a mentor, a father, a friend and a brother. 
I will always remember the intensity in your eyes when you constantly reassure me that I am a child of God, when you spoke truth and life in me.

May you rest in the presence of our Lord Jesus. I look forward to seeing you again in heaven away from the worries/ troubles of this world.

He was a man that answered to no one but God and he did his best to mentor and love all those around him.  During our conversations, I appreciated the wisdom, the words and the hugs.  Although it's heartbreaking that my family and I will not see him on this earth, we are joyful in knowing that he's in heaven, hanging out with our Father.

Thank you for taking my dad and I on a tour on the aircraft carrier. You demonstrated to so many people what life with integrity and character is and you lived it. You sincerely cared about and watched over the people you loved without compromise and were their fiercest supporters. You revealed to us men the importance of  our role as leaders of the household. You believed in leading by example and you did. You will be missed. RIP.

The first time I got to meet Larry Sein was at my 2nd SP Retreat back in 2009. I also got to know Larry and spend quality time with him at the first SP Mens Retreat in 2010 when he taught us on the power of marriage and what it takes to be a man of the household. He also shared his Top Gun experience and we all smiled with him.

Larry was a wonderful and charming man with a true heart of a father (and a heart for The Father), and God had truly instilled that gift within him to bless others.

Stand Together As One was a phrase he gave us during the Mens Retreat, and one which I hold very dear even to this day.

He will be truly missed. While Larry is no longer with us, we can at least take comfort in knowing that he is now in the safe hands of the Lord.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Becky and all of the family members.

Larry, thank you for being a man of God. You have taught me what it means to be a man of courage, how to love my wife well, how to follow Christ wholeheartedly, how to obey God fully... You have always been so gracious and encouraging to me and my family. We miss you. You will always be in our hearts. Love you.

Thanks Larry - our interactions were limited but it mattered the most, the one time it happened. Thank you for teaching me about prayer and healing, thank you for coming up to pray for me and with me when I needed it the most. I will forever remember our prayer moment before I left for Singapore to test/have surgery for the lump in my lung. Today I am well and recovered. Until we meet again, with love from Leanne.

Always so kind and generous with his time. The first thing that popped in my mind when I heard Larry went on to be with the Lord was this fantastic act of love and kindness Larry showed towards my cousin. My cousin was a Navy man and had been deployed to the Middle East and Larry took some time out of his busy schedule to write a word of encouragement to my cousin. You were truly a man after God's own heart, Larry.

My heart is deeply saddened by the loss of my Spiritual Father - who I invited into my life 7 years ago. I am lost for words - his deep knowledge and Godly guidance had helped me throughout the years and there will be a void in my life.  A wonderful man and Father .   We will meet again and sit at the  hand of our Father 

Larry was a great friend, wise mentor, loving father and grandfather to us. We praise God for all that He was able to accomplish through his faithful servant Larry. We are forever grateful to Larry's family for lending him to us for close to 10 years here in Hong Kong. Larry, you are loved. We miss you...until we meet again. There are not many aviators that could match the talent and experience that Larry had.  He had that rare combination of intellect, talent, kindness, drive, and being a true gentleman.  It was an honour to be in his presence and to make strong note of any of his many points of aviation experience.

It was only four months ago that we have sent Larry off over dim sum in Hong Kong and we were saying how we need to organize our schedule to visit in the summer. Larry you have shown us how to walk with each other through different seasons of our growth, how to love on someone in pain and how to come together as a family. I will miss you yet I know you are now resting at her bosom of our Father in Heaven. 

Larry, you were a true gentleman and a legend. It was an honour to have you as my instructor and I always appreciated your great words of wisdom. Spread those wings and keep flying my friend xx

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Larry - my condolences to the family. I was privileged enough to learn from Larry during his time at Cathay Pacific - He was a great instructor and mentor to many, and was held in the highest regard. He will be sorely missed

Saddened to hear of Larrys passing. I had the pleasure of his company as a B777 simulator instructor on more than one occasion. What a nice guy!  An accomplished aviator and a superb teacher. When I saw his name on my roster I always knew that I would be learning something in a relaxed and pleasant environment. He brought out the best in people and I enjoyed his down to earth seat of the pants approach to flying. We need more like him. Larry you will be missed!  Tail winds and blues skies!

My sincere condolences to Larry's family on his passing. I had the privilege of working with Larry while training pilots on the Boeing 777 in Cathay Pacific. I recall his smile, his enthusiasm and his natural training ability. Always ready with a joke, a smile and a fantastic story.  A giant amongst us, he will always be remembered. Vale Larry.

Larry, my heart has shattered. I will miss and cherish our conversations whether it be in the Flight Crew Training Centre, over a cup of coffee in CX street, or the occasional passing by in Tung Chung. 

I will miss sharing stories of our similar childhood and school teachers in high school, but most of all, I will miss listening to your much valued counsel and opinion. Your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever.

I'm saddened to learn of the passing of Lorenzo.  Without a doubt, he was my favourite sim instructor, full of stories and tales.  I referred to his talks as 'Sein Language', and always looked forward to our next meeting.  His common sense and work ethic will be sorely missed.  Much love to his family.

I (We) are so happy that GOD allowed our paths to be connected in this life through our Children, Our Precious Gwyn and Edward, and Grandchildren.

I had the real pleasure of working with Larry during my training days on the B777 with Cathay Pacific.  He had a very special talent for passing on his vast reserve of knowledge in ways that could be pitched to any level of experience within our community.  I have recalled and passed on his teaching points he shared with me during sessions he conducted.  I am so very sorry to hear of Larry's passing.  He will be missed greatly and I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to his family and fellow aviation friends and colleagues...

It is with real sadness that I have just heard this news about Larry. I met Larry when he joined Cathay Pacific and we had many discussions about aviation, both military and civilian. He was a hugely knowledgeable professional with a heart of gold. He will be missed.

Larry was unquestionably one of the most gifted instructors that I have ever had the pleasure to fly with. He had a unique ability to make the seemingly complex simple and did so with great humour and wit. He was particularly good at diagnosing a problem and providing the right strategy to fix it. Larry was the most grounded, confident, knowledgeable and skilled instructor I have ever had. He delighted in taking extra care to build the confidence in and the skill of less strong pilots. 
My last memory of Larry was lunch together just before ehe left HK, we shared stories of flying fighters and the personalities we mutually knew from the Navy. 
Larry brought Cathay Pacific an incredible depth of experience from his USN and UA days, and regularly took extra time to provide counsel and advice to me in my role here as chief pilot for the last 7 years. 
I consider Larry to be my greatest mentor in my current role, an incredibly loyal supporter in setting the right culture in our operation, and a friend. 
I am shocked at his passing and I wish his family the very best in finding meaning and strength after the passing of this mountain of a man.

I met Larry seven years ago as a new Cathay Pacific 777 Simulator Instructor.
As a retired USA airline pilot, military pilot, and native Texan, we had much in common.
