Deniese Nuckolls passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on Sunday, June 28, 2020 after suffering from complications of a stroke in 2010. She was a fighter and battled her stroke complications every year with as much dignity as possible. Jack and Marla are especially grateful to Teresa Cobo who cared for her grandmother gracefully for 5 ½ years so she could remain in her home.
Deniese was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 3, 1937. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1955. After her graduation, she worked at Kelly Air Force Base until she met her partner in life, Buddy Nuckolls. When they moved to Austin, Dee worked at Mutual Savings & Loan in the beginning of her career and retired as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter in 2008. Buddy and Dee were married 51 wonderful years and raised 5 children. During her retirement, she enjoyed shopping, reading, spending time fishing, hunting, and gambling in Louisiana.
Deniese was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Buddy” Nuckolls; parents, Benjamin and Laura Buckner; brothers, Elra Lee “Duke” Smith and Bennie Buckner; step-children, Linda Pedro and Robert Nuckolls.
Deniese is survived by her daughter, Laura (Marla) Nuckolls Cobo of Austin, and son, John (Jackie) Nuckolls and wife Barbara of Pennsylvania. One step-daughter, Bonnie Nuckolls Cook and spouse Bruce. She is also survived by her grandchildren, China Nuckolls of North Carolina, Amie Cobo-Clark (Ryan) of Brownsville, Laura Cobo Parrott (Jeff) of Indiana, Teresa Cobo of Austin, Sheri Domingues (Homer), D.J. Vickers of Dripping Springs, Tiffany Ward of Friendswood, Christy Mahagan (Chad) of Austin, Farrah Chelstrom (Nate), Lindy Dukes (Aundre), Heather Marrs (James) of Wichita Falls, Heath Nuckolls (Laura) of Georgetown, Ryan Nuckolls of Austin, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The Family will hold a Celebration of Life visitation at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue on Saturday August 1, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This is a come and go event.
Interment will be held later with family at Ft Sam Houston Cemetery.
