

Mabel Lohn Clark, age 92, died Monday, February 13, 2006, at Heartland Health Care Center in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lohn Baptist Church in Lohn, Texas, with burial following in the Lohn Cemetery. Mabel was born May 5, 1913, in Lohn, Texas to Marion Francis Lohn and Sarah Elizabeth Bray Lohn. She grew up in Lohn with five brothers and six sisters. She has one surviving sister, Annie Laura Ludwig of Brady, Texas. Mabel married George Jowers on October 12, 1932, in Lohn. They raised four daughters in Cross Cut, Cross Plains, and San Angelo, Texas. George passed away in 1961. Mabel attended Shannon School of Nursing in San Angelo and received her LVN license in 1962. It had been one of her lifetime dreams to become a nurse like her older sister Grace. She worked at St. Johns Hospital in San Angelo and later at the Robert Lee Hospital in Robert Lee, Texas. Mabel married Clifford Clark in Bronte, Texas in 1963 and continued to live there until his death in 1991. She resided in San Angelo until 2002 when she moved to Austin. Mabel enjoyed gardening, bridge, hunting and fishing. She was a member of Eastern Star and was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Mabel is survived by four daughters; Marion Grace McEntyre, Georgra Page, both of San Angelo, Betty Bean of Cross Plains and Mickey Meadows of Austin; ten grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren had predeceased her.
